Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust awards EPR support contract to Apira
19 July 2021: Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust (SHSC) has awarded a contract for Professional Services and Consultancy Support for its EPR Programme to Apira, following a competition via the NHS North of England Commercial Procurement Collaborative (NOE CPC)
The partnership will see Apira support the Trust to develop their EPR Outline Business Case, to run their procurement to select a preferred EPR solution, to develop their EPR Full Business Case and award a contract to the successful EPR system partner.
The new EPR will provide clinical and non-clinical teams with improved access to patient information, making it easier for staff to access the right information at the right time. A new EPR solution will operate beyond the Trust and help to improve service user safety by integrating with other local, regional and national systems, helping to provide a more accurate view of every service user and the care provided to them.
It will also support increased efficiencies by supporting single entry of patient data by staff with secure remote access from anywhere, , it will allow data to be reused many times, and also enable information to be easily updated when things have changed.
The new EPR will deliver increased reliability, moving to a more robust system to improve stability and reduce downtime.
Crucially, it will improve service user experience by avoiding the need to unnecessarily repeat their care history, and give reassurance that Trust staff are working on their care in a more joined up and efficient way with other care providers and organisations. In addition, service users will have better access to their own record and play a greater role in the decisions around their own care and how it is delivered.
