Digital Healthcare consultancy Apira Ltd selects charity partners

Apira, the digital healthcare consultancy has selected two charities to support through 2023. Staff at the company were asked to nominate charities and causes close to their hearts.

Two charities – the George Oliver Foundation, which was set up to make grants to charities working to support children and young people, and Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, which provides support and respite for children with life-limiting conditions and their families, were shortlisted and both charities presented to Apira staff at their February company meeting.

Each charity provided background on their charity, and how a donation would be put to good use, with staff voting for the charity they would most like to support.

Kiran Dave, Managing Consultant at Apira said “Listening to the work that both charities do was really impressive, and it was very emotional hearing about the support they both provide. It was difficult to decide on which charity to support as both are equally important.”

The result was a tie with an equal number of votes for each charity.

“Shooting Star Children’s Hospices and the George Oliver Foundation were both very worthy causes which do so much good for so many people and their families and in the end having an equal number of votes meant that we took the decision to support both charities

I’m really pleased we were able to partner with both charities. It’s important, as a company that we do take our social responsibilities seriously and whilst we do already do this in a number of ways including supporting food banks in our local area, I’m really pleased that we were able to select charities that were close to the hearts of our staff.

We look forward to working with both charities over the coming year and seeing how our contributions are helping to make a positive difference for the people and families they support.”

Rumour Giles, Corporate Relationship Manager at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, and Mark Oliver, Founder of The George Oliver Foundation who both presented to the Apira team were both delighted with the outcome.

Rumour said “We are beyond grateful to Apira for this very generous donation, which will go a long way in helping us to assist families navigating a tremendously difficult time. This grant will enable Shooting Star Children’s Hospices to support babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions and make the most of the precious time they have with their families.”
