Exciting Leadership Changes at Apira

In a significant development for digital healthcare consultancy Apira, the company’s board and executive management are set to undergo changes that will help to propel the organisation to new heights.

Apira’s Non-executive Chairman, Charles Skinner, who has been instrumental in laying strong foundations for the business over the past couple of years, will be stepping down from his post in September. Whilst the Apira board are grateful to Charles for all his work, and sad to see him move on, the development marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Apira.

Mark Jones – Current Managing Director, Assumes Role of Executive Chair.

Apira are delighted to announce that Mark Jones, the current Managing Director of Apira, will be taking up the role of Executive Chair. Mark brings with him an impressive career spanning 35 years, during which he has played a pivotal role in guiding Apira through significant growth. His extensive experience within the business and his strong relationships with the team make this transition both exciting and natural. Mark commented “In addition to my responsibilities as Chair, I will continue to be involved with key account management and the delivery of our Diagnostic solutions”. The company wishes Mark all the best in his new role as he carries forward the excellent work initiated by Charles.

Alan Brown Appointed as Managing Director

With Mark Jones’ elevation to Chair, the Managing Director position has become vacant, and Apira are pleased to confirm that Dr, Alan Brown will now take up the post of Managing Director. Alan’s journey with Apira began in 2008 when he joined as a Managing Consultant with a mandate to help build the company’s Mental Health customer base. In the early years, he focused on a combination of strategic reviews of IT departments and shared services, as well as deployment work, particularly during the “National Programme” days.

Alan joined the Director team several years ago and has helped build Apira into what it is today, expanding our customer base across acute, mental health, community and ambulance services and growing our great team. Some of his highlights over the last 15 years include our 20 Rio go lives between 2008 and 2015 and more recently forming our Business Case practice area and leading the delivery of 25 business cases in EPR and other areas totalling over £800m, one of which was called an ‘exemplar’ by NHSD.

Departing Executive Charles Skinner said “On behalf of the board, I wish Mark and Alan all the best in their new roles as they carry forward the work we have initiated over the last two years. We have set some fantastic foundations which have already started to reward in stronger year on year growth and a long list of new customers”.

New MD, Alan Brown said, “We have had an exciting few years at Apira, and I look forward to building on that momentum. We have amazing staff and associates who tirelessly work to improve patient care and staff experience across our customer base. I am truly honoured to continue Mark’s great work, alongside my fellow Directors, and look forward to taking up the role of Managing Director for the next part of our journey.”

These changes represent a pivotal moment in Apira’s journey, reflecting the company’s commitment to growth and excellence. With Mark Jones as Executive Chair and Alan Brown as Managing Director, Apira are poised for a bright and prosperous future.

The entire Apira team extends their warmest wishes to Mark and Alan as they embark on these new roles and responsibilities. Together, alongside the Senior Leadership Team, they are set to lead Apira into the next phase of its remarkable journey, with a focus on continued innovation and excellence in digital healthcare consultancy.
