About Iain Borland

Iain brings over 20 years of healthcare experience to his role at Apira, where he has been a key member of the team for the past 15 years. With a strong background in national programmes, Iain played a pivotal role in the deployment of Rio across London and the South.

He has led successful implementations of Electronic Patient Records (EPRs) across Mental Health, Community, and Secure settings, working with systems such as Rio, SystmOne, and CareDirector. His expertise spans the full system lifecycle, including business case development, specification, procurement, deployment, and optimisation.

At Apira, Iain heads up the Mental Health & Community Business Unit and has also supported Trusts in assurance roles during their deployment of Rio. In addition, he manages Apira’s Training team, delivering services to a major Acute Trust deploying Nervecentre.

Iain is known for his strategic insight, hands-on experience, and commitment to delivering impactful digital transformation in healthcare.
